EDITORIAL: Investigation nets 11 arrests in drug operation

The arrest of 11 people suspected of being involved in a drug-trafficking network in Selma was announced Wednesday afternoon at the Dallas County Courthouse by Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall.

That is great news for Selma, at least for those tired of hearing about guns and drugs running the streets. Not so much for those that are now behind bars. These arrests were made after a grand jury handed down indictments for drug trafficking. The operation is allegedly responsible for hundreds of thousands of dollars’ worth of drugs being run through Selma.

This was an effort by federal, state and local law enforcement agencies working together with a common goal to clean up the streets of Selma.

Marshall said this was only the beginning of more work to be done in Selma putting an end to the drug trade. He said this is a warning for all criminals. We hope these arrests make a positive impact here.
