I got my Nintendo Switch yesterday and this is what comes on 🤔
I wonder if any console hacking enthusiasts would pay you for that.
[removed]
I'll give you $600 for it
Best I can do is $4, it'll take up a lot of shelf space
username checks out
Thats it?
Damn I wonder if any hackers would pay good money for that?
Look like they forgot to install the operating system
Woah, weird. Was it new when you bought it?
[removed]
DONT.
You can seriously make a TON of money off of this.

DON'T RETURN IT
Sell it to someone who knows his stuff. Homebrew on switch should be a thing!!!
Homebrew at an early stage like this eill kill the switch
3DS has has homebrew for awhile, and a couple golden ages where latest firm was hackable (including now). Yet despite this, apparently the 3DS is not only not dead, it's getting huge releases like Metroid and such. Hacking will never "kill" a console, it'll be some other shortcoming that would do it in if a console did die early.
Does it work?. Looks like a factory instal screen and they forgot the OS flash install?

That's cool. You are lucky there seem to finally be a ton of units stocked!
Shit, op blew it ):
Dev Mode no OS
Bring/Send it back to the store for replacement or contact Nintendo
OR ALTERNATIVELY sell it on the deep web
I'd sell it on the deeper web.
Deepest web can fetch a higher price.
dep webb
There's Johnny Depp Web too
I mean, as deep as you can. No pressure.
Definitely sell that thing online. You'll get your money back and then some easily.
SELL IT
Do you think someone would buy that for a high price?
if it means access to dev mode or root or whatever, yes. they can bid against nintendo :P
Can someone explain why hackers would want this?
There might be some usable exploit in this OS that works on the Switch OS
Homebrew. Exploiting. Access to the system. Pirating games.
Take your pick.
So it being in whatever factory state it's in enables these?
Not entirely, but it looks like there's no OS, which means you're as close to the actual hardware as you can get, which means you can take a deep look in to the depths of the hardware. You can find what makes it tick and potentially find exploits.
It's not possible just because of this, but this console would potentially let you take a much closer look at internals and potentially find an exploit.
No but it’d be like if you had your desktop locked with the password there inviting someone to come on in.
n64 emulator on the switch, nes, snes, web browser, a reddit app itself
You found the Golden Ticket!!
Do NOT exchange for a new one. You could sell that to a hacker for GOOD money. You’d be able to afford two Switches. Do NOT exchange.
God damn it pisses me off when people don't take advantage of getting so lucky.
Used or new?

Sell it to the other guy for $600!!
Dude sell it
SELL IT, PLEASE!!! IT WILL HELP US HACK IT
Sell it. Dude, you can make your money back and buy another switch. Same thing, except your new switch might be able to run emulators or Homebrew once someone cracks it.
Lucky!
Op you best sell this shit
Maybe you can find something that we can't find in the normal software 🤷♂️
What does that combination of emojis even mean?
I dk (_)
What game is that /s

Fascinating.

I bought a switch after looking for months last week. Took it home excited to play, blue screen! Read online about it, laughed at my luck. Same thing happened to my xbone and PS4.
Luckily Target gives me an exchange and they had 3 in stock...another blue screen? I mean, what are the chances, am I right?
I finally got a working switch after another exchange.
Are you serious? Twice in a row?
Yes, it was a bad weekend.
Damn that's rough! I thought I was unlucky but I am just straight-up clumsy. You just have the worst luck with consoles. :s

You have any games for it yet?
Edit: Nvm I see the games hah damn that sucks
You could sell this for 3 time of original price
Sorry had to downvote after I went through pages of comments saying keep and sell. Plus it's unique and you go and exchange it. Yes I saw your comment and whatever but duuuuuude. Still enjoy your Switch, they're awesome.

OP blew it.
Go back and tell them you've changed your mind and prefer the 3-menu button instead of a working Switch!
This might be the first instance of OP delivering when he shouldn't.
Rip that was dumb lol
NO, YOU BLEW IT.

Good job waiting for responses before doing something
sigh
lol what do you mean before you saw the responses? You responded to pretty much everyone else saying you planned on returning it. Damn man.
I'm guessing you're probably kind of young? Were you nervous about selling it for hacking purposes?
I'm not sure you realize how lucky you have to be to get a console with accidental dev software on it. You won the lottery and returned back the winning ticket.
lol
honey help me HONEY HELP ME I'M GOING TO HURL
Why so many people saying he should have sold it to modders? If the Switch gets "hacked" this early in it a life cycle it's going to be doomed to fail. No 3rd party devs are going to want to develop for a console that people can pirate their games on, especially one that just got released. I have no doubt it will happen as Nintendo has a bad reputation for it, but let's hope it's at least a couple years down the road so the Switch can get going first.
This is not at all what will happen once it's is hacked
i do not mean this as a sarcastic response, i'm actually just genuinely curious, what do you think would happen if it get hacked early on?

Ah
No 3rd party devs are going to want to develop for a console that people can pirate their games on, especially one that just got released.
really weird, consider 3ds hacking is so easy you can literally (not an overstatement) do it blindfolded. And it's weird, considering the 3ds has been one of if not the best console for indies this generation.
Really makes you think 🤔
That's some bad luck haahaahha
Hey it also looks warped! Better get that looked at...hehe it’s a joke. I posted an article earlier in the day and got a 1K dislikes :)
